Since its launch in the international market, it was rumoured that Aprilia would launch the RS 660 in India. Now, the CEO and MD of Piaggio Group India, Mr Diego Graffi, has ended all the rumours. The head honcho of Aprilia India posted a picture on the social media platform Instagram, which shows that more than one Aprilia RS 660 motorcycles have arrived. This leads us to believe that the brand plans to launch the bike soon in the Indian market.
Currently, the brand has not made any official communications for the launch of the motorcycle in India. Therefore the sticker price on the premium middleweight sportbike is still a secret. But earlier reports suggest that the brand will bring the RS 660 via the more expensive CBU (Completely Built-Up) channel. Therefore, the motorcycle will likely come with an ex-showroom price of around INR 12 to 14 lakh. In the UK, the Aprilia RS 660 comes with a price tag of GBP 10,150, which roughly translates to INR 10.44 lakh.
Powering the Aprilia RS 660 is a Euro5 emission-compliant 659cc forward-facing parallel-twin-cylinder engine. The motor comes with liquid-cooling and electronic fuel injection that helps produce 100 Hp of power and 67 Nm of torque. The engine also comes with a separate oil cooler to enhance its thermodynamic capabilities on both track and traffic. The motor comes paired to a 6-speed transmission with a mechanical slipper clutch and a bi-directional (Up/Down) quick-shifter. The motorcycle also features several advanced electronic features.
Aprilia retails the RS 660 with three colour options – Acid Gold, Lava Red, and Apex Black in the international market. While the motorcycle in the picture is in the Apex Black shade. Aprilia is likely to bring in the other two colours as well.
Expect the brand to reveal full details on the Aprilia RS 660 in the coming days.
