At the annual dealers meet in Goa, Aprilia’s 150cc commuter motorcycle was showcased. The Aprilia STX 150 premium commuter motorcycle might be under consideration for the Indian market, and was displayed to gauge interest as per segment standards.
The Aprilia STX 150 might become the entry level motorcycle for the brand here in India, considering the fact that the RS150 would be the next upgrade which is a fully committed track focused supersport motorcycle. The STX 150 though is not a very popular global model, it is sold in a few markets abroad.
Powering the bike will be a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor matched to a 5-speed gearbox producing 14 BHP of power. When launched, this bike will rival the likes of Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar 150 and the likes. Although the Aprilia nameplate is something to look out for, the STX 150 looks very, very ordinary and not at all exciting.
We think that Aprilia should give this motorcycle a miss. It does not fit well with their brand image for now, which is very urban and sporty. Rather, they should focus on introducing the SR Max 300 scooter and the RS150 sportsbike.
