With the surge of demand for compact SUVs in the Indian market, Apollo Tyres introduces a new range of tyres specially built to suit this fast-growing segment of cars. Studies suggest that the current SUV tyre market in India is around 4,00,000 tyres per month and very soon this figure is going to double. This new Apterra Cross range of tyres from Apollo will aim to capture the maximum share in the SUV tyre market.
Key Features of Apterra Cross
Apollo claims that these tyres are a result of in-depth research by Apollo Tyres Global R&D Centre Asia, in Chennai. The research included an in-depth analysis to understand the requirements and usage pattern of the compact SUV owners. The manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu produces the new Apterra Cross tyres and there are plans to export them to the ASEAN and SAARC markets in the future.
Design Of Apterra Cross
In order to make these tyres more attractive and match the ruggedness of a typical SUV, Apollo has given it a very aggressive looking design. The company claims that these set of tyres will perform the best in all conditions providing the best-in-class ride quality with extra durability to tackle the typical Indian roads. One of the main USP of these tyres is the use of a twin steel belt with JCP protection, which Apollo claims to significantly reduce the chances of getting a puncture. The tread made from an abrasion-resistant multi polymer blend improves the longevity of the tyres. Bumping into unexpected potholes is very common in India and taking that into consideration Apollo tyres made use of a rounder contact patch which improves the ride quality and provides better compression during impact with potholes.
