Ampere Vehicle launches Zeal electric scooter at INR 66,950

Coimbatore based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ampere Vehicles, a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton has launched the Zeal electric scooter at a price of INR 66,950 ex-showroom Bengaluru. The Zeal electric scooter benefits from the Government of India’s FAME II scheme and is eligible for a subsidy of INR 18,000.

The Zeal electric scooter features handlebar mounted turn indicators, apron mounted LED headlamp, an anti-theft alarm, etc. The design language is fairly traditional and bears similarities with other Ampere Vehicle scooters. The scooter is equipped with two modes – Economy mode and Power mode.

The powertrain on the Zeal electric scooter is a 12kW Brushless DC motor connected to a 60V, 30Ah battery which can deliver a real-world range of 75 km with a top speed of 55 kmph. The battery can be completely charged in 5.5 hours. The kerb weight of the electric scooter is 78 kg and it can carry a payload of 130 kg.

The Zeal electric scooter comes in five colour options which are as follows:-

  • Blue
  • Silver
  • Red
  • Yellow
  • White

The Zeal electric scooters are sold by Ampere Vehicles in over 300 Greaves retail outlets across India.

The Zeal electric scooter competes with the Hero electric scooters like the Photon 48V which is powered by a 1500W BLDC hub motor connected to a 28Ah lithium-ion battery which can deliver a real-world range of 80 km in Power mode and 110 km in Eco mode on a single charge and can do a top speed of 45 kmph. The batteries take 4 to 5 hours to completely recharge. The Hero Electric Photon 48V offers more equipment than the Zeal scooter but it costs nearly INR 20,000 more than the Zeal electric scooter.
