Mahinda & Mahindra has revealed the next-generation Scorpio in India. The new ‘Big Daddy of SUVs’ also gets a new name, Scorpio-N. Earlier known by the project codename ‘Z101’, the ground-up redesigned SUV will try to replicate the same success as the original Scorpio. According to Mahindra, the new SUV will take on the D-segment SUV category. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N will also meet the aspirations of young and tech-savvy customers.
We get to see the new Mahindra SUV sans camouflage in its full glory. However, Mahindra will launch the SUV on 27th June 2022. Additionally, Mahindra announced that Scorpio’s current generation will continue to be on sale as Scorpio Classic.
All-new Mahindra Scorpio-N – Design Highlights
Mahindra boasts of a bold, imposing design and a commanding driving position with the all-new Scorpio-N. Apart from the XUV700, the Scorpio-N is the only other SUV to sport the new Mahindra logo. At the front, the SUV features a new six-slat grille, a honeycomb mesh design for the lower grille and a silver skid plate. At the side of the grille, we also see the new headlights with LED projectors. The side turn indicators in the SUV now light up sequentially, as seen on premium cars. At the sides of the lower grille, we see LED foglights. Surrounding the foglights is a C-shaped chrome surround that mimics a scorpion’s sting.
Moving to the side, the Scorpio-N gets a larger glass area. For an even muscular stance, the SUV gets squared wheel arches. The window line also gets an upwards kink towards the end. The window line also gets partial chrome surrounds. Interestingly, the chrome surrounds for the rear window mimic the C-shape of the front foglights. We also get to see black body cladding with silver skid plates. Also fully revealed are the new diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The rear of the car features an all-new design for the taillights. At the top, you also see a shark fin antenna. The lower rear bumper gets a chrome strip connecting the rear reflectors. The rear also gets black body cladding and silver skid plates like the front and sides. The rear of the car is still not completely revealed, and we will have to wait till the launch to get an even clearer look.
All-new Mahindra Scorpio-N – Technical Specifications
The all-new Scorpio-N will use a new body-on-frame platform. Mahindra didn’t reveal the exact engine options that will power the new Scorpio-N. However, the company mentioned it will come with both petrol and diesel engines. Additionally, customers will also get a choice between a manual and an automatic gearbox. For better off-road capabilities, there will also be an option of a 4×4 drivetrain.
