BMW Motorrad F 900 R & F 900 XR launched in India starting from INR 9.9 lakh

At a digital launch event, German premium motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad has launched the F 900 R and the F 900 XR in India at the price of INR 9.9 lakh ex-showroom to 11.5 lakh ex-showroom. The new motorcycle will be strengthening the brand’s mid-range portfolio and offer both sports and adventure touring, a segment which is has been attracting more patrons in India.

Both the F 900 R and the F 900 XR are powered by 895cc parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke 4-valve DOHC motor with an electronic injection system that produces 105 hp of power @ 8500 RPM and a best in class 92 Nm of torque @ 6500 RPM matched to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox and wet multi-plate anti-hopping clutch. The motorcycles can sprint from a standstill to 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of over 200 kmph.

In terms of design and styling, the BMW F 900 R features a naked roadster design with a crescent LED daytime running light, stacked headlamps with black inserts, a small flyscreen, boomerang-shaped side cowling, angular fuel tank, bench-style seats, and flat handlebars. The BMW 900 XR, on the other hand, features an upright stance with dual split type LED headlamps, tall windscreen visor, upright front nose, LED DRLs, sharp side cowling, chiselled fuel tank, step-up single-seat and an upright handlebar with knuckle guards.

Both motorcycles feature a steel bridge frame that provides optimum stiffness and rides on an upside-down telescopic fork on the front and a central suspension strut mounted on a double-sided swinging arm on the rear. 

The F 900 R and the F 900 XR are also offered with an impressive electronics package that includes standard features such as Riding Modes – Rain & Road Riding. In Rain mode, the bike tunes itself for a gentler throttle response as well as setting the traction control and the anti-lock braking system to be optimised for a wet and slippery surface. In Road mode, the traction control and ABS are set to standard performance setting while the throttle response is set to optimum. The bike is also offered with automatic stability control (ASC) as standard. 

The BMW F 900 R and the F 900 XR feature a 6.5-inch colour TFT instruments screen with BMW Motorrad connectivity that allows the rider to connect using a helmet equipped with BMW Motorrad Communication System to make phone calls, listen to music and use Navigation. The connected app also features an arrow based navigation system via the instrument’s screen for day-to-day use. 

In addition to this, the BMW F 900 XR Pro variant also offers features such as Cruise Control, Gear Shift Assist Pro and Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment). 

The BMW F 900 R is available in Black Storm Metallic and Silver metallic/Racing Red while the F 900 XR is available in Light White and Style Sport Racing Red.
