ACMA will use MG ZS EV for skill development in EV component industry

MG Motor India and ACMA announce their partnership to help develop the EV ecosystem in India. ACMA stands for Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India, which is an organization that aims to develop the Indian automotive industry. As a part of this partnership, ACMA will conduct a study on ZS EV and draw some fruitful conclusions from the same.

With this, the organization will set up a foundation to support the development of the EV ecosystem. Furthermore, IIT Sonipat will help them with the research on the deployment of electric vehicles in urban India. This alliance will fully adhere to MG vision of CASE mobility. This will take care of the learning, skill development, and overall commitment to strengthening the EV ecosystem.

MG’s Plans For The EV Segment

As per rumours, the facelift update of the ZS EV will arrive next month. In this upcoming iteration, the SUV will get a bigger battery pack and hence a longer range. In addition to this, the 2022 ZS EV will also get noticeable aesthetic updates. Sources say that MG will replace the current 44.5 kWh battery with a new 51 kWh unit. MG is also looking to launch a new EV that will compete directly against the Tata Nexon EV, which is currently the country’s highest-selling EV.

EV Segment Growing At A Steady Pace

With the demand for EVs reaching new highs, it’s time to build a viable ecosystem. This alliance is a great move taking into consideration the proliferation of EVs in the Indian market. But with the increase in EVs in the market, the entire EV ecosystem is not growing at the same pace.

Charging infrastructure is one such area, where there’s still a lot to take care of. Major Players like Tata Power are doing their bit, but there’s still a significant gap. Things are slowly taking shape as we are witnessing an influx of EV makers in the country. With this, they are coming up with their own innovations, thus helping the charging infrastructure.
