The annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in northern Italy is getting really interesting as different manufacturers are bringing up new concepts. Adding to this list is BMW which has brought up a supercharged version of their 1963 R5 motorcycle to pay tribute to this icon.
The best thing about this bike is that it still uses the 494cc, air-cooled, boxer-twin engine but with new supercharged technology for making it more powerful. While the original engine produced 24 BHP on tap and had a top whack of 135 kmph, the hommage models power figures have not been revealed.
For construction of this motorcycle, BMW has used latest suspension and brakes but the engine was completely restored with the original parts been specially developed by custom builders like Ronny and Benny Noren.
The hommage concept is a tribute not only to the bike but also a way of celebrating 100 successful years for BMW is automotive history.
