India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has announced that the two-wheeler range from the brand has transitioned into BS6 emission compliant standards well ahead of the 1st April deadline which shows the brands commitment towards the Govt. of India’s new stringent emission policy for a cleaner environment.
In the month of November 2019, the brand launched the BS6 emission compliant FZ-Fi and FZs-Fi followed by the BS6 compliant YZF R-15 Version 3.0 fully-faired motorcycle, MT-15 naked roadster, Fascino 125 Fi, Ray ZR 125 Fi and Street Rally 125 Fi scooters in the month of December 2019. In February of 2020, the company also unveiled the BS6 compliant FZ-25 which will be available from April 2020 and the FZs-25 which will be available later this year.
One of the brands most advanced BS6 emission compliant engine in the Indian market is offered on the Yamaha YZF R-15 Version 3.0 and the Yamaha MT-15. Powering the YZF R-15 and the MT-15 is a 155 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve, fuel-injected engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) which is generally seen on high-performance motorcycles. VVA consists of two intake valve cams, one for low to mid-range RPM and another for high RPM which switches at the 7,400 RPM mark. The VVA system ensures the provision of low RPM torque for slow traffic/urban use with high-performance across the entire rev range. The engine produces around 18.5 PS of power and 14 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.
The FZ-Fi and the FZS-Fi are powered by a BS6 compliant 149cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve fuel-injected engine that produces 12.4 PS of power and 13.6 Nm of torque coupled to a 5-speed gearbox.
The 125cc range of scooters are powered by a 125cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve fuel-injected engine with Smart Motor Generator (SMG) System and produces 8.2 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque mated to a V belt automatic transmission.
