TVS has launched their first electric scooter for the Indian market after having showcased multiple concepts at the previous Auto Expo motorshows. The TVS iQube is now available at an on-road price tag of INR 1.15 lakh in Bengaluru and can be considered as a rival to the Bajaj Chetak. TVS is positioning the iQube as an environmentally friendly and connected battery-operated scooter for the masses in India.
The TVS iQube will be available only in a white body colour option and features will include LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, illuminating TVS logo, machine finished alloy wheels, pillion grab rail, contrast stitching on seats, forged levers, luggage hooks, USB charging point, underseat illumination and more…
Powering the TVS iQube is a 4.4 kW electric motor which allows this scooter to sprint from 0-40 kmph in 4.2 seconds thanks to the peak torque of 140 Nm. The iQube has a maximum speed of 78 kmph and can run for 75 kms on a full charge. The scooter can be ridden in 2 modes and the lithium-ion battery pack worth 2.25 kW can be charged using a 5A charger which comes as a part of the standard kit with the scooter purchase. The hub mounted motor is expected to deliver a smooth and silent riding experience with minimum power loss. The scooter has a weight of 118 kg and a ground clearance of 150mm.
The TVS iQube runs on telescopic front forks, dual gas charged rear shock absorbers and gets the stopping power from a front disc and rear drum brake. TVS is also offering a Q-park assist mode for moving the scooter easily while parking it. The digital display also comes with day & night mode for brightness settings and the regenerative braking will help enhance overall riding range. The TFT digital display can be connected to a smartphone via the iQube app and has features such as battery status indicator, navigation, parking location finder, geofencing, call alerts, SMS alerts, etc.
TVS is offering a 3 year / 30,000 km warranty on the battery pack. The battery components are also IP67 rated.
Bookings for the TVS iQube are now open for INR 5,000 and deliveries will commence in Bengaluru from January 27th, 2020.
