Effective from 1st January 2020, Kia Motors India has announced that the prices of the Seltos SUV have been increased. The Seltos is the brands only car on sale in India, and the price tag has been bumped in the range of INR 20,000 – INR 35,000. In 2019, Kia dispatched 45,294 units of the Seltos SUV in India which hints at the popularity of this car compared to competition. Also, the Seltos allowed Kia motors to enter the top 10 car manufacturers list in India in just 130 days since sales started. Kia Motors Corporation otherwise is the world’s 8th largest car maker.
The Kia Seltos was launched in August 2019 and pricing had remained unchanged ever since. The car was introduced back then at an introductory price tag of INR 9.69 lakh ex-showroom and this introductory offer was extended till 31st December 2019. The Kia Seltos came with BS6 ready petrol and diesel engines from day 1 of launch. New pricing for the Kia Seltos in 2020 starts from INR 9.89 lakh and goes all the way up to INR 17.34 lakh ex-showroom.
The Kia Seltos is a 5-seater SUV which rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and MG Hector. The Kia Seltos SUV did wonders because it came equipped not just with the best of features, but each and every engine came with an automatic gearbox option which pleased the daily commuting car buyer. The Kia Seltos surely is an interesting case study for brands like Ford & General Motors which never managed to achieve similar success even after spending over a decade in our market.
Kia Motors India has confirmed that their 2nd product for India, the Carnival MPV will be introduced at the 2020 Auto Expo in February. This Carnival MPV will be positioned as a premium car and it will have the Toyota Innova Crysta as its key rival, but the Carnival will be much more premium. Also, in the 2nd half of 2020, Kia will launch a sub-4 metre compact-SUV in India which could be a sibling to the Hyundai Venue.
