The 2020 Auto Expo in India is going to open doors to many new car manufacturers. One such brand is China-based Great Wall Motors. Also known as GWM, the Chinese car manufacturer has confirmed via their social media account that they are surely entering the Indian car market. While launch timeline and product portfolio will be revealed at the 2020 Auto Expo, it is encouraging to see more global car brands looking to enter India. Great Wall Motors might be ready to invest close to INR 7,000 crore to setup shop in India, which will also be utilized for exports. GWM has signed a MOU with General Motors to use their Talegaon plant for manufacturing.

Haval Motor India, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor has also been registered. Point to note is that the Haval H6 Coupe SUV was also spotted testing on Indian soil earlier in 2019. Considering the market trend, we expect GWM to start their product offensive with SUVs for India starting from 2021.

GW is the largest SUV manufacturer in China and operates brands which include Haval, Wey, Ora and Great Wall Pickup. Out of these, Haval and Wey are brands which include multiple SUVs. Ora is an electric car brand and the 4th brand is self explanatory (pickup).

For reference, the Haval H4 SU is a rival to the likes of Hyundai Creta. The Haval H9 is a rival to the likes of Toyota Fortuner and the H6 is the size and scale of a Hyundai Tucson. Great Wall Motors on their initial social media posts have included the Haval H2, Haval H9 and Ora R1 hinting that these could surely be on stands at the Auto Expo.

Apart from GWM, state-owned Chinese brand Haima is also going to make a debut in India at the 2020 Auto Expo.
