BMW paid tribute to the BMW 2002 turbo by showcasing a compact coupé concept at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance in Italy. The Hommage concept is basically a BMW 2002 which has been re-imagined to be engineered in today’s automobile evolution.
Design wise, the front end has a rather impressive ‘shark nose’, a long wheelbase and an extremely low profile. To improve airflow, there are large front and rear spoilers and a number of air intakes to optimise airflow and maximise downforce. The front of the vehicle has the classic chrome strip inspired by the original BMW 2002. The car has broad extensions for the sides to replicate the homologated version of the BMW 2002 turbo.
The car is merely a concept and will never see a production ready spec. This concept was simply made as a celebration of the past. That being said, no powertrain or performance information has been released on the 2002 Hommage
