Motorcycle riding robot will challenge Valentino Rossi!

MOTOBOT
Written by Paarth Powale

Yamaha recently unveiled a robot that is capable of riding a superbike, codename ‘MOTOBOT’. Nothing like we’ve ever seen before.

This blue shaped robot can control everything from gears, brakes and even twisting throttle. If you see in the video below, you’ll see the MOTOBOT tap gears, take turns and twist the throttle seamlessly. It’s quite an impressive sight.

The robot even has a creepy childlike robotic voice. The bot challenges Valentino Rossi in these words:

“I am MOTOBOT. I was created to surpass you.

I am improving my skills every day but I am not sure I could even beat the five-year-old you. Perhaps if I learn everything about you, I will be able to catch up…

I am not human, but there has to be something only I am capable of.”

Yamaha is taking slow on the tests as of now and the bot needs more programming through practice. But eventually the MOTOBOT will be able to ride an unmodified motorcycle on the racetrack at more than 200 kmph.

Imagine GP rider’s inputs and riding prowess programmed into a single machine, the thought itself is fascinating, isn’t it.

Could future races be man vs machine!
