Tata Motors all-set for new production plant in Tamil Nadu

Tata Motors has laid the foundation for a new state-of-the-art production facility in Panapakkam, Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on September 28, 2024, was attended by several dignitaries, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin and Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran.

A Major Investment

Tata Motors is investing a substantial INR 9,000 crore in this greenfield facility, which is designed to produce next-generation vehicles, including electric and luxury cars. This investment is part of Tata Motors’ broader strategy to enhance its production capacity and cater to both domestic and international markets. The plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 250,000 vehicles.

Employment and Skill Development

The new facility is poised to create over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, significantly boosting local employment. Tata Motors has also committed to extensive skill-building initiatives for the local community, ensuring that the workforce is equipped with future-ready skills.

N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, emphasized the importance of this new facility in Tata Motors’ growth strategy. He stated, “We are pleased to make Panapakkam the home of our next generation of cars and SUVs, including electric and luxury vehicles. Tamil Nadu’s progressive policies and talented workforce make it the perfect location for our new plant”.
