MG Motor has unveiled the facelifted versions of the MG Astor and MG ZS, showcasing significant updates in design, technology, and powertrain options. The new models are expected to hit the Indian market by 2025.
Design and Exterior Upgrades
The 2025 MG Astor and ZS have undergone a comprehensive redesign, starting with a more aggressive front fascia. The new octagonal grille, flanked by sharply styled wraparound LED headlamps, gives the SUV a sportier look. The front bumper has been revamped to enhance aerodynamics, while the bonnet now features a longer, flatter design inspired by the MG3 hatchback.
The side profile remains largely unchanged, except for new alloy wheel designs and a slightly larger window area. At the rear, the facelifted models boast new LED taillights, a redesigned tailgate, and a revised bumper. The registration plate has been repositioned to the middle of the tailgate, adding to the vehicle’s modern aesthetic.
Interior and Technology Enhancements
Inside, the new MG Astor and ZS offer a more premium experience. The cabin features a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and a redesigned center console. The SUVs also come equipped with a 360-degree camera, rear privacy glass, leather upholstery, and heated front seats.
The updated models include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as Active Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control, ensuring a safer driving experience. The gear selector has been restyled to resemble yacht controls, adding a touch of luxury to the interior.
Powertrain and Performance
One of the most significant updates is the introduction of a hybrid powertrain. The 2025 MG Astor and ZS Hybrid feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 100 kW electric motor, delivering a combined output of 192 bhp and 343 Nm of torque. This setup is supported by a 1.83 kWh battery pack, offering improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
The hybrid models are expected to compete with other hybrid SUVs in the Indian market, such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. MG Motor India has not yet confirmed the launch of the hybrid powertrain in India, but the updated models are anticipated to arrive by 2025.
Market Position and Competition
The facelifted MG Astor and ZS will enter a highly competitive segment, facing off against popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the upcoming Honda Elevate. With their enhanced design, advanced technology, and hybrid powertrain options, the new MG SUVs are poised to make a significant impact in the Indian market.
