New Energy Vehicle manufacturer, BYD India has announced that its electric SUV the ‘Atto 3’ has received the homologation certification from the ARAI in India. This homologation certificate from the Automotive Research Association on India, further enables the brand to cater to the increased demands of Indian customers for the eSUV. Through the homologation process the BYD Atto 3 has received a certification proving its roadworthiness, as per the criteria laid by Government of India.
This grant of approval from the ARAI means the BYD Atto 3 is fit, legal and drivable as per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules. ARAI is the co-operative industrial research association by the automotive industry, the Ministry of Industries and the Government Of India. This significant milestone will not only help the brand reach larger audiences, but also help contribute to the growth of Electric Passenger Vehicle Market in India. The homologation of BYD Atto 3 in India also indicates BYD’s long-term commitment to India.
BYD Atto 3 – Overview
The BYD Atto 3 comes with a front-axle mounted electric motor producing 201 HP of power and 310 Nm of torque. BYD claims that the Atto 3 is capable of 0-100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. The electric SUV packs a 60.48 kWh BYD Blade battery which has an ARAI-certified range of 521 km on a single charge. Recharging the battery pack takes around 10 hours using a 7 kW Type 2 AC charger, while an 80 kW fast charger can recharge the battery in around 50 minutes from 0-80 percent state of charge.
