We recently learned that Royal Enfield is planning to bring quite a few new products to the Indian market. One of these that will surely be launched this year is the Interceptor Bear 650. This motorcycle will be based on the Interceptor 650.
Interceptor Bear 650 – What to Expect?
What we know is that the Interceptor Bear 650 will get the same 648 cc parallel twin motor that powers the Interceptor, Continental GT and the Shotgun. However, given the character of the Bear, this engine will be tuned differently. Speaking of character, the Bear 650 is a scrambler version of the Interceptor. What sets it apart is that it gets a single exhaust, unlike the other 650 motorcycles from RE.
To keep up with its scrambler guise, the Bear will get block pattern tyres and spoked-wheels. It will also get upside-down forks which the other 650s do not get. Though the twin shocks for the rear are carried over, the suspension travel on the Bear will be more so that it can tackle off-road trails. It will also get ribbed seats to keep up with the scrambler styling.
The other components like lights. instrument console, horn, etc will be carried over from the Shotgun 650. Except for the tail lights which will be similar to the Hunter 350. The Bear will also have simple neo-retro styling and will weigh lighter than the other 650s.
Pricing is something that we will need to watch out for. It will be higher than the Scram 411 as it comes with a bigger engine. However, given that scramblers are now piquing interests of buyers, RE might decide to price it competitively and try to attract the Triumph and Yezdi Scramber buyers towards the Bear. Expect the motorcycle to be revealed during the festive season this year.
