Skoda much-popular premium sedans the Octavia and Superb are about to make a comeback in India. Report suggest that the Czech brand is planning to bring both the Octavia and the Superb to the Indian market thanks to its demand here. Currently, Skoda only retails the Slavia in its sedan portfolio and Kushaq and Kodiaq in its SUV segment.
Skoda’s Plans to Bring Back Superb
According to a media report, Skoda is planning to bring back the Superb in the Indian market first. Reports suggest that there are more than 25,000 Superb customers who are true-hearted towards the brand and eagerly waiting for the car to make its return. Skoda is therefore planning to initially bring the Superb as a full import, relaunching the luxury sedan in its previous-generation avatar which was on sale in India before.
The full import Superb is only likely to be available in the Laurel and Klement trim which is the flagship variant in the Skoda stable. The brand is likely to bring the full import Skoda Superb, to its showroom in the next couple of months. In addition to this, the company is also likely to bring the all-new fourth-generation Superb a year later as the car is not yet on sale in the global markets.
The fully imported Skoda Superb is likely to come with a price tag of around INR 40 to 45 lakh ex-showroom. The Superb is also likely to come with a BS6 Phase2 compliant 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine which pumps 190 Hp of power and 320 Nm of torque. The engine will be coupled to a 7-speed DSG automatic and capable of achieving 100 kmph from standstill in 7.8 seconds.
Skoda Octavia
Like the Superb the Octavia is also likely to come as an import. The Octavia brand also has a large pull and reports suggest that the premium sedan will be here to stay. However, it is not yet revealed when the Skoda Octavia will make its return on Indian roads.
While the brand is likely to import both the Octavia and Superb, it is highly likely that in the near future Skoda will bring both the cars as parts and components and assemble them locally. Assuming that the locally made Kushaq and Slavia will take up the Pune plant, Skoda is likely to assemble the Octavia and Superb in the Aurangabad facility. However, it could take more than one and half years to prep.
