The test mules of the motorcycles, heavily camouflaged, were seen on the outskirts of Chennai, near the company’s manufacturing facility. Despite the disguise, certain key elements of the motorcycles were discernible, hinting at what enthusiasts can expect from the upcoming models.
The motorcycles appear to retain the classic Royal Enfield design ethos, with a round headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and seats. The motorcycles also seem to be equipped with disc brakes at both ends, hinting at a dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety. The Scrambler would get raised handlebars for ease of riders who want to ride standing up on rough roads.
The engine, presumably a 450cc single-cylinder unit, is expected to be BS6 compliant on both the bikes. While the exact specifications are yet to be revealed, it is anticipated to offer a balance of performance and efficiency, in line with Royal Enfield’s reputation.
The sighting of the test mules suggests that the launch of the 2024 Royal Enfield 450cc Scrambler / Roadster could be around the corner. We can expect an official announcement in the coming months.
