Maruti Suzuki India has started exports of the 5-door Jimmy. The 5-door Jimmy is made only in India. The SUV will be exported from India to other regions like Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Maruti Suzuki revealed the prices for the Jimny on June 7. The prices start from a price tag of INR 12.74 lakh, and go up to INR 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec automatic variant.
The Jimny 5-door was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The company has garnered over 30,000 bookings for the Jimny since they opened the bookings. In India, the Jimy will head against the likes of the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha in the lifestyle vehicle segment.
In terms of dimensions, the Jimny measures 3,985mm long, 1,645mm wide and 1,720mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,590 mm. It has an approach angle of 36 degrees, ramp breakover angle of 24 degrees and a 47 degree departure angle. The Jimny’s unladen ground clearance is 210 mm.
Safety features on the SUV include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill hold, Hill descent control amongst others. Maruti could also consider offering ADAS on the Indian-spec Jimny at a later stage.
The Jimny comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This motor develops 103 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 134.2 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. Maruti is offering a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic to choose from. Also standard is Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro all-wheel drive system. In India, the Jimny heads up against the likes of the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha in the lifestyle vehicle segment.
Jimny – Brand Details
Back in 1970, the first Jimny was launched in Japan. Since the, the name is synonymous with the car’s go-anywhere capability. In 1980s, Maruti launched the Gypsy in India. A 4×4 system was standard across the range. The Gypsy enjoyed a long production run till 2019. It was so popular that even after the production ended, the Army requested the carmaker to offer them the car.
