Back when the Duster was on sale, it did pretty good. The SUV was known for its ride quality and was offered in both diesel, petrol and even an all-wheel-drive version. Now, the next-gen Duster SUV was caught testing abroad.
Dacia Duster spotted testing
In the international markets, the Duster was sold under the Dacia brand. Even then, the car was pretty successful. Infact, we can even attribute the Duster to the formation of the SUV segment where today sit the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda-VW twins and others.
While the car was camouflaged, we can make out the larger size on the new Duster. Compared to the outgoing model, the new 3rd gen Duster is based on the CMF-B platform. This platform can offer ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains. This means it will be pretty future ready.
Overall, the car gets an imposing stance. The car looks like it will dominate the roads. The front end looks like a face, which is slightly angry. The front also gets triple LED units which could house both the headlamps and the DRL lamps.
The new Duster appears to get 17-inch five spoke alloys. These are shod in larger profile tyres. Hence the ride quality of the car could be at par or better than the outgoing model. The wheel arches are flared as well.
Towards the back, we can see an exhaust that comes slightly out. The rear wheels get disc brakes as well. There is a roof spoiler present as well.
Powertrain options of the new Renault Duster
While it is not yet confirmed on the exact engine choices that the French carmaker would offer, we can expect it to come with a diesel, petrol and possibly a hybrid option at launch. an electric version could be introduced at a later date.
Renault could do good by launching the car in India. However, the timeline for the same could be between 2024-25.
