Triumph has launched the Speed 400 in India at a price of INR 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom). Just last week, the bike maker unveiled the 400 range of bikes. These include the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. The scrambler will be launched later this year.
However, the introductory price is set at INR 2.23 lakh for the first 10,000 customers.
Triumph Speed 400 : More Details
The bike has been developed in collaboration with Bajaj. The bike gets a modern design with some inspiration taken from the larger Speed Twin 900. The Speed 400 is offered in three colour choices – Carnival Red, Caspian Blue and Phantom Black.
The new Triumph Speed 400 measures 2,056 mm in length, 795 mm in width and 1,075 mm in height. The bike gets a 1,377 mm long wheelbase and the seat height is set at 790 mm. The kerb weight of Speed 400 is 170 kg.
Features wise, the bike is pretty loaded. The Triumph Speed 400 gets the likes of ride-by-wire, all-LED lighting set-up, switchable traction control and more. Further, the rider is benefited by a semi-digital instrument cluster. The information displayed here includes dual odometers, fuel level, gear indicator and more. Additionally, to keep the rider’s phone or any other accessory charged, there is a USB C port as well. Users can also get heated grips from the official accessories of the bike.
In terms of hardware, the Speed 400 comes with a 43 mm big piston suspension. This has a 140 mm of travel while the rear gets a mono shock. Meanwhile, the rear unit gets preload adjustment. The bike comes with 17-inch alloys shod in MRF Steel Brace tyres.
Powertrain of the Triumph Speed 400
Triumph has equipped the Speed 400 with a new 398cc liquid cooled motor. This engine is rated at 39.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 37.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel using a 6-speed gearbox.
Triumph will offer a 2 years / unlimited km warranty on the bike with an extension for three more years. The service interval is 16,000 km.
In terms of competition, the bike will head against the likes of the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and the RE Interceptor 650.
