Finally, the much-awaited Simple Energy One electric scooter is here. This EV scooter will retail in the price range of INR 1.45 lakh to INR 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
Simple One – A Brief Overview
The Simple One comes with a 5kWh lithium-ion battery. The claims an IDC range of 212 km, this is with 6 per cent SOC left. The battery pack is split into two units, one fixed and one removable. This battery powers a permanent magnet motor and comes with 8.5kW of peak power (4.5kW continuous) and 72 Nm of torque. In terms of performance, the One EV scooter can manage to sprint from 0 to 40 kmph in 2.77 seconds. The top speed of the scooter is set at 105 kmph.
Simple Energy mentioned that the battery charges up from 0 to 80 per cent in 5 hr 54 min. This is using portable and home chargers. With the use of a fast charger, the scooter juices up at the rate of 1.5km/min up to 80 per cent.
Weighing 134 kg, the Simple One is the heaviest mainstream e-scooter on sale in India. The seat height is set at 796mm. At 1,335mm, the One’s wheelbase is a good 40mm longer than that of an Ather 450X. The scooter uses a tubular steel chassis, suspended by a telescopic fork/monoshock setup. It runs on 12-inch wheels at both ends wearing 90-section rubber. Braking duties come from a 200mm disc at the front and a 190mm unit at the rear.
Simple One Key Features On Offer
In terms of features, the Simple One is a no-slouch. It equips a 7-inch TFT dash that can be paired to your phone via Bluetooth. Using this we can control the navigation as well as the music on it as well. Riders also get four riding modes to choose from. These are, namely, Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic. Another key highlight is its all-LED lighting and a boot light. Boot capacity is at 30 litres, which is not segment-leading, but it is quite decent.
Customers can get the Simple One in four single-tone colours. These are black, red, blue and white. We also get to choose from two dual-tone colours as well. These are white and black, with red alloy wheels and highlights. The dual-tone colours cost about INR 5,000 more than the single-tone paint options, at Rs 1.50 lakh.
Simple One Price Range And Rivals Options
In the range of INR 1.45 lakh to INR 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the Simple One is on the more expensive side. And then buying the faster 750W charger will cost you an additional INR 13,000.
The EV scooter segment is heating up with a slew of options. This includes Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube S, Bajaj Chetak and Vida V1 Pro. Simple Energy confirmed that the deliveries will begin on June 6, in Bengaluru, while other cities will follow soon. The company has set up a target to add ‘140 to 150’ showrooms in India over the next 8 to 10 months.
