Yamaha’s latest 2023 models are making its way to showrooms. These include the likes of the R15, FZ-X and the MT-15. This means that the company plans to launch them pretty soon. Now, we have more details of the MT-15, which has been spotted in a dealership ahead of its official launch.
2023 Yamaha MT-15 : More details
From first glance, it appears that Yamaha has offered new colour schemes on the bike. However, there are also some functional updates like the new dual-channel ABS and compliance with the OBD-2 protocol. Thanks to the addition of these aforementioned features, the prices are also likely to go up.
In general, for the 2023 model year bike, Yamaha has focused more on the cosmetic enhancements rather than do any changes to the mechanicals. The MT-15 gets a new gloss black and red colour combination. Both the front and rear wheels are finished in a red shade while the front upside-down suspension is painted in a contrasting golden yellow. Apart from this new paint, the Yamaha MT-15 is also available in the existing colour palette. These include the metallic black, ice fluo-vermillion, cyan storm, racing blue and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition.
The deadline for OBD-2 compliance has been set at 31 March 2022. One of the major tasks of this new protocol is to enforce stricter emission norms. This is done by real time monitoring on exhaust. The OBD-2 is capable of detecting any variations from the regulated emission levels.
The MT-15 uses a 155cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 18.14 bhp and a torque of 14.1 Nm. As for brakes, the MT-15 gets discs at both ends. There have been no mechanical changes made to the bike otherwise.
