Tata Motors is one of the leaders in the commercial vehicle segment. They have been designing and deploying trucks for a long time now. Now, at the 2023 Auto Expo, the company has unveiled the new Tata Signa Range, with the highlight being the Signa G.48T. This truck is claimed to be India’s highest payload CNG truck. The truck is aimed at offering high savings in the total cost of operations (TCO) to operators. At the same time the truck will provide a greener and cleaner option for the movement of goods.
Features of the New Signa Range
Tata Motors Signa range comes with a variety of tonnages. At the lower end there is a 28 ton truck which goes all the way up to 55 tons. All these trucks come with a Signa cabin and multiple body options which can be configured as per the payload requirement. The trucks are equipped with a multi-information display with driver friendly features, a 7-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, navigation and phone mirroring amongst others.
The Signa cabin also boasts improved visibility thanks to pillar mounted proximity mirrors. Convenience features include steering mounted controls, easy opening and closing doors, enhanced utility and storage inside the cabin and 3-piece Berth with locker, multi utility table amongst others.
Safety features of the New Signa Range
The trucks come with optional Electronic Stability control, standard hill start assist, LED indicators and side markers, collision mitigation system, driver monitoring system and more. ADAS features like lane departure warning, collision alert system and TPMS are available as well.
Tata Signa G.48T : Details
This CNG truck comes with a 6.7-litre gas engine. It comes with multiple tank options which give a range of 500-1000 km on a full tank. The truck comes with a 3-mode fuel economy switch, auto mis-fire detection system, automatic shut-off valves and dual filling nozzles for faster refuelling. Tata’s Fleet Edge Telematics is offered as well.
The GVW of the truck is 47,500 kg. The Cummis ISB3 6.7B BS6 CNG engine delivers 280 HP and a peak torque of 1100 Nm. The engine is paired with a heavy duty 9-speed gearbox. The gradability is 28 percent with a payload capacity of around 34,000 kg. Deck length options include 28 and 30 ft.
