BMW Group India Created a new milestone of success. The company posted its highest-ever annual customer deliveries in its history. The company sold a total of 11,981 cars. This includes both BMW as well as MINI. For the motorcycle segment, BMW Motorrad sold a total of 7,282 motorcycles in the calendar year 2022. To break down the sales, BMW India registered sales of 11,268 units. For MINI India the figure stood at. 713 units. And BMW Motorrad delivered 7,282 motorcycles.
Best Year For BMW Group In India
BMW Group’s best-ever year in India since its inception is quite an encouraging achievement for the brand. They made some strategic decision that seems to have worked perfectly. This gave them unabated and dynamic growth in the premium car and motorcycle segment. BMW mentioned that its next goal is to meet the high demand for products throughout the country.
BMW achieved 37 per cent growth as compared to 2021. The group delivered 11,268 units for the given period. The SUV segment is in much demand. This segment accounted for the maximum of the sales. Currently, the range includes the likes of BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5 and BMW X7. At the same time, the luxury sedans such as the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 6 Series continued to garner significant sales. Given the massive demand, most BMW models now have a waiting period of up to six months.
MINI continued its dominance in the niche compact premium segment by posting growth of 11% with 713 units. The locally produced MINI Countryman had a share of 41 per cent in sales while the MINI Hatch contributed 38 per cent and MINI Convertible 21 per cent.
BMW Motorrad India saw a significant growth of 40 per cent with 7,282 units. The BMW G 310 R, BMW G 310 RR and BMW G 310 GS were the top sellers. These motorcycles had a share of 90 per cent in motorcycle sales. Other popular models from the brand were BMW S 1000 RR, BMW R 1250 GS / GSA and BMW C 400 GT scooter.
BMW India’s Plans For The EV Segment
BMW Group India has big plans for a fully electric range. This includes the BMW iX electric SAV, the BMW i4 electric sedan and the MINI 3-Door Cooper SE electric hatch. Interestingly, all three models were sold out on launch. Currently, BMW Group offers the best charging infrastructure in the premium segment at the BMW Group Dealer Network available in 32 cities across India.
