It has now been confirmed that the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will debut in India at the Auto Expo 2023. The Automobile Show starts on January 11, 2023. Apart from the Ioniq 6, the Korean carmaker will have on display its existing line-up as well as some new models and concept cars. While Ioniq 5 will be the star attraction at the Show, the recently unveiled Ioniq 6 will also be on display.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 : Exteriors

The all-electric sedan comes with many curves and creases. The overall silhouette of the car can be described as aerodynamic. Thanks to clever design and use of aero bits, Hyundai claims a low drag coefficient of just 0.21 for the electric Ioniq 6. Features like flush door handles and cameras instead of rear view mirrors help achieve this low number. At the back, the Ioniq 6 comes with all-LED tail lights in pixel-style. It gets a duck tail rear spoiler along with a curved shoulder line, which was similar to the concept showcased earlier.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 : Interiors

Like other EV offerings from Hyundai, the Ioniq 6 gets a flat centre console. The dashboard style can be described as minimalist and houses a pair of dual 12-inch touchscreen with a two-spoke steering wheel for the driver. It borrows interior design from the Genesis GV60 SUV sold abroad.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 : More details

Amongst the all-electric offering of Hyundai, Ioniq 6 is the third after the Kona EV and the Ioniq 5. The Kona EV is already on sale in India. Back in June, the Ioniq 6 had its global unveiling and was previewed by the Hyundai Prophecy Concept, which was also showcased at the last Indian Auto Expo. In terms of platform, the Ioniq 6 is based on the carmaker’s E-GMP architecture, which also underpins sibling Kia’s EV6. The E-GMP allows different battery sizes, front / rear / all-wheel drive options, a flat floor to liberate more space and EV-specific sizing.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 : Powertrain and Battery

In terms of configuration, the Ioniq 6 comes with two battery sizes. The base gets a 53 kWh battery pack while the larger 77 kWh pack is on offer with higher variants. Hyundai is offering a single motor rear-wheel-drive option as standard while other variants get a dual-motor AWD option. In terms of numbers, the dual motor motor Ioniq 6 is rated at 320 Hp and 605 Nm, while the single motor variants make 228 HP and 350 Nm.

In terms of all-electric range, according to the WLTP cycle, the Ioniq 6 does 429 km for the RWD 53 kWh version, 614 km for the RWD with 77.4 kWh and 583 km for the AWD variants.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 Launch in India

While the Kona EV is already on sale in India and the Ioniq 5 going on sale in January 2023, it is not yet known when the Ioniq 6 will be on sale. It seems like Hyundai wants to show the car at the Auto Expo and gauge customer response before launching the car in India.
