After launching the Super Meteor 650, looks like Royal Enfield has already commenced development of a new adventure bike based on the 650cc platform. No, this is not the parallel-twin Scrambler that was spotted recently, but a ground-up new adventure bike. A leaked document had shed some more light on this development.
What does the leaked document say?
Looks like the leaked document tells us about the family tree of the 650cc platform. This includes an outline of the upcoming adventure bike. This model will be a derivative of the lead model, which is none other than the Interceptor 650. This adventure bike will have a lot of changes compared to the standard model to quality itself as an adventure motorcycle.
In the diagram, the new Super Meteor 650 is also shown as a derivative of the Interceptor 650. This is despite the former getting a new frame and suspension setup. Similar to this, we can expect the new adventure bike to be much different than the Interceptor as well.
What do we know about the new 650cc ADV so far?
While details are very scarce at this moment, we can definitely figure out some details. For one, the bike will get wire-spoke rims. The front wheel also appears to be bigger in size than the rear. It gets a scooped seat for the rider and a tall-set handlebar. The upright stance of the bike is also very noticeable. A large wind deflector sits up at the front.
It could also get a rear luggage rack, side mounted upward tapering exhaust and what appears to be an underbody sump plate. The silhouette also suggests that the ground clearance of the bike is much higher than other Royal Enfield offerings.
Royal Enfield’s 650cc platform
The 650cc platform has been good for Royal Enfield. Users and brand loyals have been waiting in anticipation for a long time for bikes to materialise on this platform and the Indian bike maker has not yet disappointed. Could this be the Himalayan 650? While there is no confirmation on anything yet, it would be quite hopeful to expect the Himalayan moniker on this platform.
In addition to this, the 650cc platform will also spawn more models apart from the Shotgun and the Scrambler. Looks like it is going to be quite a busy time for Royal Enfield.
