BMW Motorrad recently revealed the monster M1000R bike. Alongside, the fully faired M1000RR has also been upgraded. The bike gets more advanced aero bits and carbon fibre parts to improve stability and top speed.

What is the BMW Motorrad M1000RR?

Based on the S1000RR, the M version is the bike that gets modified for the World Superbike Series and the British Superbike Championship. These get a revised 4-cylinder engine that puts our 209.2 BHP. The bikes also get forged pistons, CNC machined intake ports, variable valve timing (ShiftCam) and other bits.

The M1000RR will be offered to customers from April 2023 in two options – a standard version finished in a white paint shade and a black M Competition model.

BMW M1000RR Aero updates

Aerodynamics play a significant role in racing – more so for a bike with a narrow profile. The new bits have improved the bike’s top speed by 8 km/h, which might not seem like much, but it now has a top speed of 313.98 km/h, which could be the difference in coming in the first and second position. This has been possible thanks to a new carbon fibre fairing with a taller screen, carbon fibre brackets, and redesigned carbon fibre winglets. Another advantage of this screen is that it will shelter the rider, reducing fatigue.

These wings can offer an increased downforce of up to 6.3 kg at 300 km/h. It will help the riders on straights as well as corners.

BMW M1000RR Carbon Fiber updates

The bike also gets a redesigned carbon front mudguard with integrated brake cooling ducts. This is claimed to reduce the temperature of the brakes by almost 10 degrees. Further, airflow along the callipers and forks is also improved. The M Competition gets carbon fibre wheel covers to lower air resistance even more. These are said to work at speeds above 250 km/h.
