German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has pulled the covers off the AMG version of its recently launched all-electric EQE saloon. Mercedes-Benz will offer the AMG EQE saloon in two trims – EQE 43 4MATIC and the EQE 53 4MATIC+. With these two electric models at its helm, Mercedes-Benz aims to expand its performance-based models and diversify its portfolio. Both fully-electric luxury saloons will spearhead the future of driving performance for Mercedes-Benz using the AMG.EA in-house developed platform.

2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 & 53: Design Details

Both the AMG EQE 43 4MATIC and 53 4MATIC+ variants retain the same cab-forward design as the standard EQE. Thanks to its one-bow line design concept, the AMG versions and EQE models clearly distinguish themselves from their combustion-powered counterparts. To spice up the look, both electric saloons get an AMG-specific black panel grille with hot-stamped vertical struts in chrome. Adorning the front grille is the integrated Mercedes star logo and the ‘AMG’ lettering with DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps with AMG projection.

Additionally, the AMG EQE saloons feature body-coloured front bumpers, AMG A-wing design front apron in high-gloss black colour, and chrome trim. Mercedes-AMG has also equipped the electric saloons with air diffusers on both sides, a rear aerodynamic diffuser, and a spoiler. These additions allow the AMG EQE saloons to showcase an AIR CURTAIN effect that improves driving dynamics and efficiency. Both electric saloons also get the AMG-specific lightweight alloy wheels for enhanced aerodynamics with different designs depending on the variant.

2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 & 53: Performance & Range

The entry-level AMG EQE 43 4MATIC will come with dual electric motors that will deliver 476 PS and 858 Nm. Thanks to an upgraded AMG-tuned electrical system, the EQE 43 can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds. Meanwhile, the EQE 53 will feature different electric motors, specifically designed by AMG with different electrical windings and inverters. This allows the EQE 53 to put out 626 PS and 950 Nm, rivalling the likes of the Porsche Taycan.

Mercedes-AMG will also offer an AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package for the EQE 53 to boost its overall performance considerably. With this package, the AMG EQE 53 will produce 687 PS of power and 1000 Nm of torque. This will allow the luxury saloon to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.3 seconds during max charge. Both versions of the AMG EQE come with 90kWh battery packs that power the electric motors, offering an impressive range.
