One of India’s emerging EV brands, Atumobile Pvt. Ltd., has extended its manufacturing capacity by inaugurating its 2nd factory. Located at Patancheru, Telangana, the Hyderabad-based EV manufacturer has increased its production capacity to 3,50,000 units per year. The company inaugurated its first factory at Patancheru in 2020, which had a production capacity of 25,000 units per year.
Atumobile’s latest Net Zero facility in Patancheru showcases the ATUM Solar Roof, which is the World’s first Electricity Generating Roof. Spanning an area of over 20,000 sq. ft, the facility will produce and manufacture the Atum 1.0. Additionally, the company will use the facility to introduce new high-speed EVs alongside the low-speed Atum 1.0 electric bike.
Production Plans for the Future & Initiative Goals
Atumobile states that the new facility along with the improved production capacity will spearhead their ‘Made-in-India’ green initiative. This will also allow them to transform India into a sustainable and environmentally-friendly nation as the EV market develops strongly. Statistics showcase that the Indian EV market has grown by 135% during 2021, including approximately 2.3 lakh EVs. Thanks to the introduction of FAME II subsidies, this number may rise to around 6 lakh units in 2022.
Due to increasing demand for high-speed e-bikes, Atumobile states that it will soon launch two new electric motorcycles for 2022. The upcoming Atum 1.1 will sport a 50 Kmph top speed, whereas the Atum 2.0 will sport 70 Kmph. The company aims to acquire a 5% market share in the industry with its upcoming models as the adoption of EVs increases. The company also states that by 2030, electric two-wheelers will replace around 50% of petrol-powered scooters and bikes in India.
2022 Atum 1.0: Details
Atumobile launched the Atum 1.0 electric motorcycle in 2021 as their flagship model costing INR 54,999 (ex-showroom). It is also one of the first companies in India to start a doorstep bike delivery service for its customers. Along with offering bike-related repairs via the service, customers do not require a license or registration for the e-bike. The Atum 1.0 sports a top speed of 25 kmph, making it ideal for individuals aged 16 and above. The e-bike sports a 250W electric motor that’s powered by a 48V battery and 14-litres of boot space.
