Made-in-India Renault KIGER in Top 5 finalists for World Car of The Year 2022

Renault has announced that its Kiger hatchback is one of the top 5 finalists for World Car of the Year 2022. Participating in the ‘World Urban Car of the Year’ category, the Kiger won the hearts of multiple customers in India. With its unique SUV styling, great space, utility, smart features, and a sporty engine, the Kiger remains popular across global markets. It is also important to note that the announcement of the 2022 WCOTY winners will take place on April 13 2022, at the New York International Auto Show.

2022 Renault Kiger: Design, Variants & Colours Highlights 

Launched on February 15 2022, the Kiger utilises the CMFA+ platform that also acts as a base for the Nissan Magnite. Produced under the Renault-Nissan Partnership, the Kiger sports an imposing front fascia with unique French styling all throughout the SUV. The front features the LED DRLs, which sit flush along the bonnet shut line with bumper-mounted headlights and turn indicators. Additionally, Renault has equipped the Kiger with flared wheel arches surrounded by black plastic cladding for an ideal SUV stance.

Meanwhile, the Kiger also gets functional roof rails, an aerodynamically optimised roofline, and an integrated wing-style spoiler as design details. Along with 16-inch alloy wheels and C-shaped LED tail lamps, the Kiger gets six colour options with two dual-tone colours. Renault offers the Kiger in India with four variants- RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ, starting from INR 5,79,000 (ex-showroom). Since its launch, Renault has exported the Kiger to countries like Nepal and South Africa after its phenomenal response.

2022 Renault Kiger: Technical Specs Highlights 

Renault has equipped the Kiger with two petrol engines with different states of tune and two gearbox options for each. The first is the 1.0-litre, naturally-aspirated three-cylinder motor that develops 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of power. This engine has been paired to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed Easy-R AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).

Meanwhile, the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol motor develops 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque. Renault offers this engine with a choice of a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed CVT automatic transmission. The Kiger measures 3,991mm in length, 1,750mm in width, and 1,600mm in height with 205mm of ground clearance.
