Hyundai Creta becomes India’s number one exported SUV for CY 2021. The carmaker has sold close to 32,799 units of Creta in the overseas market. When compared with the CY 2020 figure, the figure stood at 25,995 units, translating to a growth of 26.17 per cent. Hyundai SUV’s range, including Creta, exported a total of 42,238 units for CY 2021. There has been a significant demand for SUVs in the market, both in the domestic and international markets. Creta’s rising demand is an indicator of the shift in customer buying patterns. Creta export success perfectly resonates with the central government’s ‘Make-in-India’ initiative.
SUVs’ Rising Demand
HMIL mentioned that they exported a total of 42,238 units of SUVs for CY 2021. This consists of Creta with 32,799 units, Venue with 7,698 units and Creta Grand with 1,741 units. Both the Creta and Venue are also selling in good numbers in India. Creta was the most sold SUV for the domestic market in CY2021.
For Indian road conditions, SUVs make so much sense. The high ground clearance does help in tackling adverse road conditions. In addition to this, SUVs also give an impression of a bigger car. When compared to its sedan counterpart of the same price range, an SUV will attract more eyeballs from the general public. And hence owning an SUV is slowly becoming a status statement as well.
Hyundai’s Creta is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a car in the INR 12 to INR 18 lakh budget. The car gets all the latest features, which is unsurprising from a Hyundai make. In addition to this, customers also have a wide range of powertrain and gearbox options, with the majority of the carmakers staying away from diesel engines. Hyundai is still offering them, with its range of models. This is also a USP, this is helping in garnering more sales.
