German automaker Volkswagen has announced the launch of its facelifted 2022 T-Roc crossover for the European markets. With four years under its belt, the new facelifted T-Roc has received a whole host of exterior and interior updates. Volkswagen has introduced the facelift in 3 different variants to increase its competitiveness and sales against rivals.
Volkswagen introduced the previous-gen T-Roc for the Indian market in 2021 at a price tag of INR 19.99 lakh. VW also ensured to bring the 2nd batch of 2021 T-Roc’s to India for INR 21.35 lakh ex-showroom. Since the T-Roc was successful with Indian customers, VW may introduce the 2022 version, although there’s no official announcement.
2022 Volkswagen T-Roc facelift: Design Details
With the standard facelifted T-Roc, Volkswagen has introduced the crossover as a two-door cabriolet and a four-door, performance-focused R-version. The exterior design on the standard T-Roc now features reworked LED IQ Light matrix headlamps and a revised front grille. Along with integrated LED DRLs, the crossover sports a redesigned bumper, a lowered central air-duct, and a black plastic insert.
Completing the front look is the light band which runs across both sides of the larger VW logo. Towards the rear, the 2022 T-Roc now features LED taillights and a redesigned bumper along with 16 to 19-inch alloys. VW has designed a bespoke front bumper with vertically-stacked DRLs similar to the 2022 Golf R for the performance-based R version.
Other exclusive exterior changes for the R model include 18-inch Jerez alloy wheels, aluminium-finished ORVMs, and a larger rear spoiler. Additionally, the R version sports darkened LED taillights, a strengthened black rear bumper, an integrated diffuser with quad exhausts. VW also offers the R variant of the T-Roc with optional Akrapovic titanium exhausts similar to the Golf R.
2022 Volkswagen T-Roc facelift: Powertrain Details
VW offers the standard facelifted T-Roc with a choice of three turbocharged TSI petrol and two turbocharged TDI diesel engines. VW has paired all the engines to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch DSG gearboxes. In terms of the petrol engines, the base 1.0-litre, three-cylinder produces 110 PS of power. The 1.5 and 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engines produce 150 PS and 190 PS of power, respectively.
With both diesel engines having a 2.0-litre capacity, the latter produces 115 PS and the former produces 150 PS. However, VW offers its signature 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor producing 300 PS and 400 Nm for the T-Roc R. The T-Roc achieves 0-100 kph in 4.9 seconds thanks to the 7-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox and VW’s ‘4Motion’ four-wheel drive. VW also claims that the R version of the T-Roc can achieve a top speed of 250 kmph.
2022 Volkswagen T-Roc facelift: Features
The T-Roc now features an updated cabin with a soft dash panel along with 14-way, electrically adjustable, heated seats. Along with an 8-inch digital driver’s display, the T-Roc features a new multifunctional steering wheel, and digitally-controlled AC controls. Additionally, VW offers a choice of 6, 8, or 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment systems depending on the variant. Other features include Beats audio system, reworked fabric door trim, and revised switchgear.
