Triumph reveals new Bonneville Gold Line Editions

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Triumph has revealed the new Gold Line edition in the Indian market. With the new Gold Line edition, the brand showcases its hand-painted gold lining skills and Triumph’s expert paint shop. The brand also reveals that eight unique custom-inspired designs will be available for a limited period of one year. Artists will lay down the custom-inspired designs in detail on eight motorcycles. Triumph is offering the new Gold Line edition on the renowned Modern Classic Bonneville range.

The Art of Gold Lining

Triumph’s paint shop has industry-leading hand-painted gold lining experts. Gold Lining is a skill that takes the steadiest of hands, incredible patience and years of experience. According to Triumph, many Gold Line editions start with a two-colour base scheme. The point where the two colours meet are flattened down, and then carefully, a gold line is hand-applied, usually in one continuous stroke by the artist. The artists use a very specialised soft-bristled sword-liner brush. After applying the Gold Line, artists seal the pinstripe using a final clear coat of lacquer. This clear coat helps protect the delicate gold line from weather and other elements.

Automotive paint is often too thin for gold lining; therefore, paints are formulated by mixing a powdered colour with a cellulose lacquer. The paints are mixed to bring the right consistency for brushwork. At the end of every gold lining project, the artist adds the last finishing detail to each Gold Line Edition by signing their work with their initials. This not only provides a personal touch to work but also makes every hand-painted Triumph special.
