Audi is planning to introduce the sixth-generation Audi A4 in 2023. According to a media report, the powertrain details of the new-gen Audi A4 have emerged on the internet. The report gives us a glimpse of what to expect from the BMW 3-Series rival. Interestingly, the A4 will rival not only the 3-Series but also the BMW i4 all-electric and the Tesla Model 3 because the Audi A4 in the near future will come with pure electric and electric hybrid engine options.
Sixth-Generation Audi A4
Reports suggest that the Audi A4 will continue both the sedan and station wagon body styles. Underpinning the A4 will be a revised MLB platform that also underpins other Volkswagen Group cars. Now reports suggest that the brand will bring electrification to both petrol and diesel models. The powertrain will come with mild-hybrid technology or plug-in hybrid technology. The drivetrain will also be of both the front- and four-wheel drive configuration. The powertrain will come with a 48V electric architecture and a 14.4 kWh lithium-ion battery.
According to Audi, electrification already exists in the brand’s line-up. The brand will focus on upcoming cars to keep up with emission norms and reduce the carbon footprint. Furthermore, electrification will extend throughout the range of A4 up to the RS4 performance model as well. The brand will be using the 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine but electrify it to produce more than 444 Hp of power.
Audi A4 e-Tron
The brand will also make use of the PPE platform to bring an all-electric Audi A4. The Audi A4 e-Tron will share the electric architecture with the second-generation Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-Tron. The electric car will come with a single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor four-wheel-drive options. Audi will also work in the aerodynamics department of the electric-only vehicle. The brand also plans to bring an electric performance model from the RS division, pumping out 469 Hp of power and 800 Nm of torque. Audi is likely to introduce the A4 e-Tron by 2024.
