BMW Motorrad has silently launched the 2021 BMW R NineT and the R NineT Scrambler in the Indian market. The 20212 BMW R NineT starts at the price of INR 18.50 lakh ex-showroom, while the 2021 BMW R NineT Scrambler starts at INR 16.75 lakh ex-showroom. Both the 2021 BMW R NineT and the R NineT Scrambler comes in a single ‘Standard’ variant and now meet Euro5 and BS6 emission regulations. Both the R NineT and the R NineT Scrambler come to the Indian soil as Completely Built-Up (CBU) units.
Powertrain
Powering the 2021 BMW R NineT and the R NineT Scrambler is a 1,170cc Air/oil-cooled twin-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine with four radially arranged valves per cylinder as well as a central counterbalance shaft that helps pump out 109 Hp of power and 116 Nm of torque. The engine now comes with a Closed-loop 3-way catalytic converter, to conform the motorcycle to Euro5-spec as well as BS6 emission standards. The engine is capable of propelling the motorcycle to 200 kmph and the power is transmitted from the engine to the rear wheels using a 6-speed gearbox with helical gear teeth and a shaft drive.
2021 BMW R NineT Design Highlights & Mechanical components
The R Nine T features retro classic looks and comes with a rounded BMW LED headlamp, muscular fuel tank, wide handlebars, rounded twin-pod instruments, chopped fenders and a bench-style seat. The motorcycle comes with a Four-part frame concept with a single front frame and a three-part rear frame that rides on 46 mm upside-down telescopic forks, a load-bearing engine-gearbox unit and a removable rear-seat frame for one-up riding. The motorcycle comes with a cast aluminium single-sided swing arm with BMW Motorrad Paralever strut suspension on the rear. The R NineT comes with 17-inch rims with spoke wire wheels, 320 mm diameter twin disc brakes on the front and 265 mm diameter single disc on the rear with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro. The motorcycle tips the scales at 221 kg and comes with an 805 mm of seat height and 18-litres of fuel tank capacity.
2021 BMW R NineT Scrambler Design Highlights & Mechanical Components
The R NineT Scrambler features the same design as the R NineT but comes with a differently styled high-mount exhaust system, mechanical components and alloy wheels. The motorcycle also features a three-section frame consisting of a single front and two rear sections, 43 mm right-side-up telescopic suspension, 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels and a taller 820mm of seat height. While the fuel tank capacity is less by 1-litre the weight is up by 2 kgs and the motorcycle tips the scales at 223 kg.
