Royal Enfield could be planning to upgrade the Royal Enfield flagship motorcycles in the Indian market the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. The Royal Enfield Twins are likely to come with new colour options as well as ergonomic updates and the new Royal Enfield Tripper navigation system. The powertrain which is already a BS6 compliant unit is likely to remain unchanged.
Design, Styling and new Colour Options
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 features a relaxed rider’s triangle and the Continental GT 650 is a slightly more aggressive Cafe racer style motorcycle. The motorcycles come with rounded headlamps with halogen bulbs, twin dial instruments cluster, a wide handlebar on the Continental GT 650 and clip-on bars on the Continental GT 650 giving the motorcycle cafe racer styling. The motorcycles also come with classic spoke-wire rims. According to sources, the new colour options includes – Ravishing Black, Baker Express, Grey Goose and Ventura Blue. The Continental GT 650features Cookies & Cream, Venture Black & Blue and British Racing Green. The colour line up is similar to the Valentino Motori special/celebratory edition Royal Enfield motorcycles
New Updates
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are likely to come with some updates to their seating as well as some added features such as the new Tripper Navigation system that made its debut on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and is now also added to the new update of the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
Powertrain
Powering the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 is a Euro5/BS6 emission-compliant 648cc air/oil-cooled, 4-valve/cylinder parallel-twin engine with a SOHC valvetrain and twin throttle bodies with Bosch electronic fuel injection and engine management system that pushes out 47 BHP of power and 52 Nm of torque and comes with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper assist clutch. Royal Enfield is also likely to bring a set of Ohlins suspension and a Slip-On exhaust that could be part of the additional accessory.
