Land Rover Classic has announced that it is building 25 units of adventure ready-Defender World V8 Trophy vehicles in 2021. The legacy of the Defender will be carried forward with these 25 new SUVs and will be built exclusively for the Land Rover Trophy adventure competition at Eastnor Castle, which is dubbed as the home of Land Rover testing and development.
Mechanicals and Exteriors
The SUV will be powered by a monstrous 5.0-litre V8 engine which makes 400 HP of power and 515 Nm of torque. This eight-cylinder power mill is matched to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The suspension setup, steering and braking mechanism has also been updated to tackle the most extreme off-road conditions. The Defender World V8 Trophy uses a ladder on frame chassis as opposed to the new Defender which uses a monocoque chassis. The 25 examples of the Defender Works V8 Trophy will be produced in a mixture of 90 and 110 Station Wagon body designs wearing the Eastnor Yellow shade meanwhile the wheel arches, bonnet and rear door will be finished in Narvik Black paint giving a nice contrasting look. The event graphics, unique Land Rover Trophy badging and a Heritage grille will uplift the outlook of the SUV to a great extent.
Interiors
From inside, the car is finished in full black Windsor leather upholstery with Recaro sports seats, contrast yellow stitching and a Land Rover Trophy clock face. The SUV will also feature Land Rover Classic’s in-house Classic Infotainment System which is integrated with navigation and mobile device connectivity.
For the Customers
Land Rover also confirmed that later this year, the customers of the Defender Works V8 Trophy will be invited to participate in an exclusive three-day adventure event at the Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire which will also be the first time when customers will get to drive their car. The customers will also have the option to add their names along with the co-drivers’ and also add the flag of their country on the SUV. Experts from Land Rover will have a brief discussion with the participants explaining the routes and give tips on how to tackle the extreme road conditions. The training will help the customers to hone their off-road driving skills which will help them perform better in the competition.
