A new report on the internet is suggesting that a 7-seater variant of the Tata Harrier is due for a launch in the calendar year 2019. The Tata Harrier is all set for a launch later this month, and the 7-seater model will also hit the showrooms this year. But then, Tata Motors retails the Hexa which is a 7-seater and a car with 4×4, there will be cannibalization.
New details reveal that the 7-seater Harrier will obviously be based on the Land Rover D8 platform, but the car will be longer for the additional 3rd row seat. Both Harrier variants, the 5-seater and 7-seater model will have the same 2741mm wheelbase, but the overall length will be pushed to 4660mm thanks to the extender rear overhang by 62mm. But with the 3rd row seat, obviously the XL size boot space which we see on the Harrier as of today will take a hit.
The 7-seater Harrier will also see styling changes after the C-pillar on the body. There could also be larger quarter glass areas to allow for more light in the cabin.
The 7-seater Harrier will have a more powerful engine. This will be a BSVI compliant motor, which is the same 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine. But, this will pump out power over 170 HP and 350 Nm of torque. This engine could also be introduced for the 5-seater Harrier in due course of time. Gearbox options would be 6-speed manual & automatic.
What would you bring home? A 5-seater Harrier or the 7-seater variant? Or look at the Hexa.
