BMW X7 launch in India soon, to be locally assembled

The big daddy of BMW SUVs, the new X7 is set for a market debut in India later this month. This will be the new luxury SUV, and the flagship SUV for the brand here in India, and will also be locally built at the BMW Chennai plant. The X7 when launched will rival to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GL.

Based on the CLAR platform, also shared with the 7-Series, the new X7 is a BIG car by every means. The X7 measures 5151mm in length, 2000mm in width, 1805mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3105mm. The X7 will be first introduced in the M50d variant.

Powering the BMW X7 M50d variant will be a 3.0L, 6-cylinder diesel motor producing 394 BHP of power @ 4400 RPM and torque of 760 Nm @ 2000-3000 RPM matched to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Power will be sent to all four wheels, to make the X7 a capable off-roader as well.

The X7 continues with the polarizing XL sized kidney grille in chrome at the front. It will have all the latest features such as LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, snazzy looking alloy wheels, leather upholstery, digital displays for instrumentation and infotainment, large sunroof, electric seats, and more…
