One of the most-awaited 7-seater SUVs to be launched would arguably be the Hyundai Creta, the 7-seater avatar of the SUV was spotted testing in the South Korean market. Ever since the spy shots of the Hyundai Creta 7-seater emerged on the internet, speculations were that the brand could launch the SUV in India as well.
Now, the test mule of the 7-seater version has been spotted on Indian roads leading us to believe that the car will be launched here in India soon. The 7-seat SUV is also expected to get its own unique name and tweaks to its styling that distinguish itself from the popular 5-seat version that is currently on sale in India. But, most importantly, the 7-seater model will be longer than the current 5-seater car to accommodate the third row of passenger seats.
The car that was spied international was also seen with a large rear overhang and a similar design detail is expected for the India-spec car as well.
According to the latest spy images from the test mule in India, the SUV features a new chrome studded radiator grille, the same headlamp setup and DRLs, a unique rear end which features a new tail lamp setup but the alloy wheel design remains the same. The roofline is also expected to remain the same. The interiors of the 7-seater model are also expected to remain the same. The equipment is expected to be carried over from the 5-seater counterpart such as the large touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, and the dash layout.
In the engine department, the Hyundai Creta 7-seater is expected to be powered by the same engines that are currently offered on the 5-seater model – a 1.5-litre Naturally Aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque, 1.5-litre U2 turbocharged CRDi diesel engine that produces 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque and the 1.4-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine that makes 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of torque. Hyundai is also likely to offer a range of gearboxes with the 7-seater model.
In the recent past, it was speculated that the Hyundai Creta 7-seater is likely to be christened ‘Alcazar’. The SUV is expected to arrive in India in the second half of 2021.
