7-seater Citroen C3 spotted testing

Looks like Citroen wants to get into the entry-level 7-seater segment as well. A test mule of what appears to be the 3-row version of the Citroen C3 was spotted recently.

Design of the 7-seater Citroen C3

In terms of design, the car appears very similar to the regular C3. The front facade and rear profile seems identical to the 5-seat version of the vehicle. However, the C-pillar appears to be extra thick, which means that the car has been extended to accommodate the third row of seats.

The rear row seats could be for children, and Citroen could project the car as a 5+2 seater. In the entry-level segment, only the Renault Triber offers seven seats. Even then, the higher-end variants of these cars could be priced very close to the base model variants of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Kia Carens.

We can expect the same features and overall elements on the inside compared to the 5-seater C3. This could most likely be done to keep the price in check.

Powertrain of the 7-seater Citroen C3

Citroen could do well to offer the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that puts out 110 HP and 190 Nm of peak torque. The engine would also have to be retuned to handle the additional weight of the car. While the naturally aspirated engine could be offered on the lower trims, the more powerful is the one to go for.

Launch timeline of the 7-seater Citroen C3

While there has yet to be an official word on the exact launch and availability of this car, one can expect the launch to happen by the end of 2023. It has also yet to be discovered if Citroen will launch this as a new variant of the C3 or as a completely new car.
