Royal Enfield has announced the pricing for the twin-cylinder Interceptor and Continental GT in the American market. The Cafe Racer Continental GT has been priced at around INR 4.36 lakh and the Interceptor has been priced at INR 4.21 lakh (converted pricing). However, when launched in India, around the end of 2018, these bikes will go on sale with a price tag undercutting the INR 3 lakh mark, at least for the standard variants.
As the pricing reflects, the chrome variants of these bikes will demand a massive premium. In the American market, the premium is INR 50,000 over the standard paint options.
Powering the Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650 is a brand new engine. This is a 648cc, air-cooled, twin-cylinder block with fuel-injection producing 47 HP of power and 52 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The bikes are rumoured to cross 160 kmph mark for a decent top speed, which Royal Enfield bikes were never good at. However, quality still remains to be seen. We know what happened the last time when Royal Enfield introduced an all-new motorcycle right? The Himalayan!
Fuel efficiency of this engine will be 25.5 kmpl.
The Interceptor and Continental GT 650 will come with dual-channel ABS as standard.
We know Royal Enfield fanboys will be waiting eagerly to get their hands on these Twins. But, are you sure you want to get this?
