A lot of Royal Enfield bikes have been spotted testing recently. Since last month, sightings of these bikes have also been quite frequent. Now, the Super Meteor has been spotted up close, which could mean that the launch is just around the corner.
As the bike was spotted sans camouflage, we could spot many of its features. It has a long wheelbase, wide handlebars, and a forward-set footpeg setup. It is also likely to get an LED headlight as standard.
The front shock absorber looks to be of the upside-down (USD) type. This will make it one of the first Royal Enfield bikes to feature a USD shock absorber. However, the rear suspension setup is identical to other 650cc bikes from the stable – it will get a twin rear shock absorber. A lot of accessories are also expected to be offered with the bike.
The Super Meteor will get a round headlamp, a large teardrop-shaped fuel tank, scooped seats (with a single-seat option as well), twin low-slung exhaust pipes and a relaxed forward-set design. The recently spied test mule also reveals 19-inch front and 16-inch rear five-spoke alloy wheels. This classic cruiser style motorcycle will also get full fenders and meaty tyres. The bike is also likely to come loaded with chrome.
The new cruiser will retain the 648cc parallel-twin air/oil-cooled engine that Royal Enfield uses on the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. The motor develops a peak power of 47 BHP and a max torque of 52 Nm. A 6-speed gearbox will be paired with the engine.
While there is no official work on the price yet, expect this to be priced at a slight premium compared to other 650cc offerings by Royal Enfield.
