6 variants of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso discontinued

Maruti Suzuki has discontinued some variants of the S-Presso. As per reports, the entry-level hatchback is now only available in Std (O), LXI (O), VXI (O), VXI Plus, VXI (O) AMT, LXI (O) CNG, VXI Plus AMT, and VXI (O) CNG trim. Thus, the omitted trims are Std, LXI, LXI CNG, VXI, VXI AMT, and VXI CNG trims. With this reshuffling, the prices for the S-Presso now start at INR 3.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), with the most costly trim retailing at INR 5.38 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier, Maruti Suzuki’s Alto 800 received a similar treatment of variants omissions, which is now available only in 5 trims.

There is no official communication or statements from Maruti Suzuki regarding this reshuffling. But we might have an answer. Recently, some reports suggested that Maruti is looking to bring its much-coveted Alto K-10 back to production. Thus, the company is creating some gaps in the product lineup so that it does not suffer from self-cannibalism.

S-Presso To Get A Facelift Update Next Year

Since the launch of this hatchback back in 2019, S-Presso has been very popular in the entry-level segment. The trend is the same for India as well as for various countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The SUV-like stance of the hatchback resonates perfectly with the customers. With the 2023 update, we expect S-Presso to get aesthetic changes. With the growing competition, Maruti Suzuki will also make some additions/updates to the interiors.

In terms of mechanicals, S-Presso uses a 1.0-litre petrol motor that makes 67 HP and 90 Nm torque. The S-Presso gets two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and an automatic in the form of AMT. The S-Presso is also offered with a CNG option. The CNG-powered S-Presso makes 58 HP and 78 Nm of torque. The CNG version is available with only 5-speed manual transmission.
