BYD has announced a new production milestone. The electric carmaker has just rolled out the 500,000th Atto 3 from its production line in China. The move is a significant step for the company as the Atto 3 becomes one of the most popular EVs not just in China, but other countries as well.
BYD’s Atto 3 has now become the top EV car in its category across markets like India, Singapore, New Zealand, Brazil, Thailand, Israel and Sweden amongst others.
In Israel, the Atto 3 was in the number one New electric vehicle for nine months consecutively and in Thailand, the car managed to be the best selling EV for the month of July 2023.
Back in 2022, BYD announced that it would no longer make conventional ICE engined cars and would instead focus on BEV and PHEV segments only. Hence, BYD is now the world’s largest EV maker with over 1.86 million passenger EVs sold.
This Electric SUV is based on BYD’s Dragons Face 3.0 design language. It gets a clanked out grille finished in chrome, sleek LED headlamps and fog lamp housings finished in black that are connected together. There is a slim air dam on the bumper.
The rear gets wraparound tail lights with an LED light bar. The sides get prominent character lines and the window line tapers from the front to the back. The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.
The model offered in India comes with a 60.48 kWh battery pack. This is good for an ARAI claimed range of 521 km. The electric motor is located at the front, which develops 201 BHP and 310 Nm of peak torque. The carmaker claim a 0-100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds.
The battery can also be used to run appliances that can have a maximum output of 3.3 kW. BYD offers a 8-year / 1.6 lakh km warranty on the battery and an 8-year / 1.5 lakh km warranty on the motor and its assembly. All high voltage DC components come with a 6-year / 1.5 lakh km warranty.
