5-door Force Gurkha is ready before the Mahindra Thar

Ahead of its launch in India, new spy shots of the 5-door version of the Force Gurkha have surfaced online. SUVs with an increased seating capacity without compromising on off-road capabilities are in-demand these days. More seating capacity means more people can enjoy off-roading adventures together. And that’s exactly what Force is aiming for.

The brand wants to offer people the option of a relatively affordable hardcore off-roader that can carry more people. This is why even Maruti Suzuki is readying a 5-door version of the Jimny and not launching the 3-door version over here. Mahindra is also said to be working on a 5-door version of the Thar, but it seems like Force is already ready with its 5-door Gurkha.

5-Door Force Gurkha Latest Spy Shots – What Do We See?

This won’t be the first time we’re seeing the 5-door version of the Force Gurkha out in the open. However, these spy shots suggest the model is nearing its end of testing. Unlike the Trax commercial vehicle, the 5-door Gurkha has short rear overhangs and does not look disproportionate. However, the window size remains similar. The thoughtfully designed air intake snorkel is also present, like the 3-door Gurkha.

Visually, apart from the rear doors and longer wheelbase, there’s not much difference when compared to the 3-door Gurkha. However, the 5-door version uses larger 18-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels with 255/65-section tyres. In comparison, the 3-door Gurkha uses 16-inch alloy wheels with 245/70-section tyres.

5-Door Force Gurkha – What Do We Know?

According to reports, the 5-door version of the Force Gurkha will get increased ground clearance. Also, the increased seating capacity will come from the side-facing third-row of seats. Although there is no confirmation, Force might offer the engine in a higher state of tune. Currently, the 2.6-litre 4-cylinder mill makes 91 HP and 250 Nm of torque.

Currently, the 3-door Gurkha uses a live independent axle at the front and a live rigid axle at the back. There are also manual diff-locks for both of them. As for the suspension, it uses an independent double-wishbone suspension and coil spring setup at the front. At the same time, the rear uses a multi-link suspension with pan hard rod and coil springs. Expect these to be carried over to the 5-door version as well.
