Hyundai India will soon launch the all-new Tucson in the Indian market. Hyundai has now premiered the new SUV in India before its launch. This also gives us a look at all the kit the Tucson will offer. We also get to know about the powertrain options Hyundai will equip it with. Hyundai says the all-new 4th generation Tucson will redefine benchmarks for its segment. The Hyundai Tucson will do so by offering 29 first- and best-in-segment features.
Once launched, the all-new 4th generation Tucson will be the South Korean carmaker’s flagship model in India. Hyundai aims to re-establish the benchmark for the premium SUV segment and elevate lavish experiences for the customers.
Hyundai developed the all-new Tucson for India with a focus on five key pillars. These are – Iconic Design, Premium Comfort and Convenience, Level-Next Safety, Dominant Performance and Advanced Infotainment & Connectivity.
The 4th-gen Tucson features the brand’s new ‘Parametric Dynamics’ exterior design theme. At the front, the Dark Chrome Parametric Front Grille reinforces its sporty and dynamic image. Meanwhile, the front skid plates add to the rugged looks of the Tucson. It also uses the Parametric Hidden Lights architecture. Because of this, the headlights or the DRL are not visible when turned off. They are only visible when turned on, revealing the unique identity of the Tucson.
On the sides, defining the side profile of the SUV are Z-shaped side character lines. These not only exude a sporty appeal but also emphasise the aggressive look. The 4th generation Tucson rides on 18-inch diamond-cut alloys shod on 235/60-section tyres. The roof rails and Satin chrome DLO moulding further enhance the Tucson’s appeal.
At the back, the 4th generation Tucson sports Connecting LED Tail Lamps. Below the taillights, we also see the Paramateric pattern bumper. The full-length taillights also accentuate the width of the SUV. The SUV also features a 3D logo garnish below the rear glass. A segment-first feature is the concealed rear wiper with washer. Above the rear windscreen, it sports a spoiler with a high-mounted LED stop lamp and a shark fin antenna.
The interior of the 4th generation Tucson gets a Premium Black and Light Grey Dual-Tone theme. There are also silver accents all around the cabin, which lend it a distinct look. Furthermore, the soft-touch materials around the cabin ensure the feeling of plushness. The steering wheel of the all-new Tucson features an ergonomically-designed 4-spoke design. Hyundai India’s flagship SUV will also feature 64 Colour Ambient Lighting as standard. Users can thus tune the lighting of the cabin to suit their moods. The centre console gets a Piano Black fascia with a flowing design.
The 4th generation Tucson will use a 10.25-inch floating type digital cluster. The digital cluster is able to display personalised themes, Drive Mode Select, Multi-Terrain Modes, turn-by-turn navigation and parking sensor display. Another segment-first feature will be the Multi Air Mode. The system draws inspiration from aircraft and activates gentle airflow from multiple vents. Thus, offering a superior level of comfort. Also standard will be a dual-zone climate control system. Front seat occupants will also get ventilated & heated seats. Users will also be able to control the feature using voice commands.
Other highlights include an 8-speaker Bose Premium Sound System, hands-free tailgate, and Hyundai’s Bluelink system. The Hyundai Bluelink enables a connected car experience with over 60 connected car features. The second row of seats in the Tucson also gets a reclining function. The seats also fold in a 60:40 split for more convenience.
The 4th generation Tucson will come with two engine options. Hyundai will offer it with both petrol and diesel powertrains. For the petrol version, Hyundai is using a Nu 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The petrol motor makes 156 PS of power at 6,200 rpm and 192 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Meanwhile, the diesel uses a new R 2.0-litre VGT engine with 8-speed automatic transmission. The motor makes 186 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 416 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 2,750 rpm. Hyundai’s HTRAC All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system and Multi-Terrain Modes will be standard. The latter offers three modes to choose from – Snow, Mud and Sand.
The 4th generation Tucson will feature Hyundai SmartSense with Level 2 ADAS capability. Using cameras, radar sensors and automated sensing technology, it can detect a car, a pedestrian or a cyclist on the road. Thus, offering comprehensive protection. The all-new Hyundai Tucson with Hyundai SmartSense will offer 19 ADAS features. These are –
